Our mercs should look more tacticool. Something like that: (BSM + Deadhead's models)

How'd he get a chest rig like that? I thought that was impossible with this game?

What about changing one of the helmets to an OPSCOR FAST with comtac IIIs?

He got the rig from Hard Life mod. But Deadhead's permission is needed. I can ask for it if kosi or silver is up to implementing them in merca, cause i dont touch 3dmodel stuff. As for the helmets, you ll need a 3d model and then test it with every head in game that is supposed to wear the helmet you are going to replace. Thats at least 66 heads for some eye-candy cause we cant have attachments on the helmet (which is a very nice suggestion/idea and thank you for that!).

I forgot you guys added a metric tonne of extra mercs. That would be a difficult process indeed.
For the sake of the discussion, you can't have that particular helmet buff hearing slightly to simulate the passive audio boost/protection the COMTAC IIIs offer?
The way it was explained to me rigging body armour or chest rigs in this game would be very difficult. Curious as to how Deadhead did it. I take it it just replaces the actual body?
Wish I was more computer literate so I could contribute to the mod outside of offering professional expertise.
What about adding some early CGL assault rifles that are in very poor condition? For example, an AK pattern rifle with the stock and dust cover missing. It would be similar to hard life but instead simply jamming more often these weapons would be significantly altered in appearance and performance.

Well, i dont think there are enough mercs, sadly there isnt enough time either. I think its possible to "attach" a character attribute enhancement i.e. +10% hearing to a helmet. The code of the headphones is already written.
As for the chest rigs. We may have 66 different heads (which accept every helmet in game - we have more that accept some or nothing) BUT we only have 5 different bodies. So IMHO he didnt replace the body, but fitted the rig in the 5 different bodies. 5 << 66.
Early jamming ARs. Silver's territory. But i have to ask: Why?

I guess my point was to adapt HLA's idea but to expound upon it to make it more than simply a jam-o-matic. I think the arms race in the Vanilla, HLA and merc versions of the game are one of the most enjoyable and fascinating parts of the game. Instead of having a rifle with the descriptor "Low quality" on it and simply a higher chance to jam. You could instead have a rifle with the stock broken off, so shoulder fire is completely disabled but otherwise it's relatively functional. Or missing iron sights, hand guards, etc., which would modify other performance values of the weapon. I've attached a picture of a Beretta 1938 that has had it's stock hacked off. The other picture is of a captured Taliban AK. The third picture is of a breach loaded shotgun that has been retrofitted with a pistol grip and folding stock. I have no idea if it has any sights. The idea of weapon versions with frequent jams or/and awful accuracy, but about same lethality was something we (Silver and me) thought when discussing the same part of HLA. I asked why because i thought that about a thousand weapons would be enough to satisfy everybody but i m not against more player choices if thats what you want. It ll be a bit difficult to fit these versions somewhere in the arms race (big discussion) but i think its doable. So, as i said before, Silver's territory. If you want to really help you should provide some links to 3d models of said weapons.

Silver/ MercA made it easy enough with OP-Weapons in the first, let's say ten CGs, if it nots enough for you try the goodness and satisfaction the low-level guns offer.
PS: if your guns not look intimidating enough for you in 1-3 CGLs, try the AK-22 with HPV-Ammo, should be sufficient.

Hello,
I am a big fan of 7.62 and Blue Sun... also I did just download Mercapocalypse and I really like it :-)
Since you are always adding new mercs and stuff... could you please add the whole squad from the movie "Predator 1" or at least the character Arnold Schwarzenegger (named "Dutch" in the movie) played? ^^ I would really like that and I think it would fit epic-ly into the game... maybe make it optional for people that dont like Arnold Schwarzenegger and his typical quotes.
Besides the game not having an Arnold merc its really enjoyable and so far I really like the CGL balance (at the beginning bandits and such having much better weapons than you can even buy)... I usually try to Clint Eastwood them (run up to them or lure them somewhere and then hip Colt them XD )
