I have recently reinstalled the game on a new computer and due to how unstable Mercapocalypse is in shops for me I have decided to play some regular blue sun. It has however been some time since I did a fresh reinstall and eventually when I go to the higher game levels I started encountering crashes for some of the new guns. I remember downloading the latest versions of the Silver Girl Armory fixed nearly all of these issues. Are the download links for Version 2 and the 2.6 update for Silvergirls Armory over at the old blue sun forums "up to date"? I notice that you didn't have any links for an old version here and I just wanted to make absolutely sure before I reinstalled and played again for a few days only to run into the same problems as before.

The links for the old version are available on the old BSM forum, but i haven't "fixed" anything, if you are having crashes with the shops with or without Mercapocalypse its a normal thing for this game, the game has a memory leak issue that builds up the longer you play the game. If the weapon never showed up before on shops, the game will have to load it to create an inventory image (this is what the rendering items is when a lot of new weapons are being loaded), spending some memory, after that it will always use the inventory icon when it shows up on shops again, so it won't need to load the weapon, this way you will be fine when the gun icons are all loaded. However if you mouse over a weapon, the game will have to load its model and texture at the bottom left corner preview, which makes it spend more memory and if you hover over too many weapons, the game will spend a lot of memory and crash. I recommend opening the cheat shop to load all weapon icons completely (may take a few crashes) to prevent crashes when you play the game normally. And always quicksave before entering shops and shuffling your team equipment. Also, in older Silver Girl Armory there were less weapons, but the textures were not optimized, so some weapons had textures with sizes of 5MB, in Mercapocalypse all textures were capped at 1MB which greatly prevents crashes when loading weapons and makes the game far more stable, crashes usually coming after 1h 30 min or something later, which is normal for this game even in vanilla. The crashes in Mercapocalypse shop/cheat shop screen come from the much higher number of weapons that have to be loaded. Are the crashes in BSM happening with rendering items or when all item icons are already loaded? Because if even with BSM which uses low size textures you are having crashes, getting my older weapon mod will probably makes things far worse, and Mercapocalypse has been reported by some players to be more stable than the old Armory mod and almost as stable as BSM (once all weapon icons are loaded). In Mercapocalypse Beta the weapons had their HQ textures of up to 5MB size which made the game crash constantly, after capping them it improved the game stability immensely while keeping excellent quality. The models, while still being high quality, have much less hog on the memory than the textures. Look at this chinese player for example, his game didn't crash while there were so many enemies and weapons with HD models and textures at the screen at the same time. Another good way to keep memory clean is to save the game and restart it once you start and end a battle to clean memory, this is what R@S recommended doing in BSM.

I know there is a memory leak in the game, it seemed to be a certain gun that whenever I moused over it or an enemy spawned with it and tried to aim the game would immediately crash. I am not entirely sure which gun it is as it only appears in the higher game levels.
I also did not know about the debug shop and that is interesting that it works like that. I will definately try that out.

The code to the cheat shop is first save the game then press tilde key to open console, then type enter_dev_mode and confirm, after that type shop, and the cheat shop should load.
With Mercapocalypse and older Armory mod the game will start rendering the weapons and then it will take some time to complete, it should crash after a certain point, but just reopen the game and do the cheat again and it will continue from where it left off, eventually the loading will finish. This should improve stability when you enter the game shops since all the icons for weapons will be loaded, just be careful not to mouseover over too many weapons to conserve memory. You will also have the CHEATER tag, so just restart the game and load the save before you used the cheat to go back to normal tag.
