Chapter 16 is up. It will be awhile before I get to the next one as I've been distracted by other games. If you want more, let me know. Thanks.

Thanks a lot for another part Stan, due to holiday - winter break from work I to have little more time to play 7.62 MercA and HLA among other things. So if You could keep it going that would be highly appreciated.
Great walkthrough. Thanks.

Cool. Thanks for another chapter Stan. Stogie - my favourite merc from JA 2.5UB.

Bolog, I've never used Stogie before. I've started a number of JA2:UB games, but never finished one. I've never had the patience to finish any JA2 game. By the time I get to the last city, I found the game dragged on, and became less fun.
Auspice, Can't please everyone. I found Senora annoying which is primary reason for letting her go. That and her low experience.

I just mean in general, I probably would have hired the most efficient team possible player + free hires + cheap merc (stingray) then + masha, -paquito + sniper, -benicia/stingray + gunnar, -beni/stingray + lex, -kelly + mike, -robyu

actually that should be +mike -masha, keep robyu, he's stupidly good Auspice, I've never hired Stingray before, will have to try that sometime. To Everyone: Also, I'm further ahead in actual game as opposed to where the walkthrough is at. I'm looking for another merc, and open to suggestions. I'm looking for a Sniper this time around, Stogie isn't bad, but he'll stick with the heavy weapons for the most part. Kelly is learning but it is taking time. Here's a few that I'm thinking about: From the Merc Spreadsheet: James Sullivan: #1 on the sniping chart. Isn't he available in the vanilla campaign? Very LATE in the campaign? I'm assuming he's not available, but will look next time. "Dios": Wow, #2 on the Sniping chart but that's all he can do. With 7 for INT, that's all he'll ever do. Cheap though. "Sniper":#3, and crazy experience level. Decent shooter as well. A little on the slow side in terms of movement though. Mid level+ cost, so cheaper than Stogie. "Mike": #4, and crazy levels of skill and at everything else. Most expensive merc, outside of buying expensive Slaves. "Reaper":, #7, similar to Mike has high level skill in a number of areas. High INT means he'll even improve and he has 60 EXP. Any other favs? This new merc will replace Paquito. Paquito will be a spare and he'll be training my sure to be useless militia when not in my squad. Edit: Chapter 19 is up. Enjoy.

im having trouble dealing with the doctor without the guards beign alerted Well that is decent timing. Though I'm 5 days late. Sorry. Chapter 20 deals with the Doctor mission. I hope you find something useful there. Enjoy

Sniper is basically the best sniper. Mike is ofc the best at everything, but he costs as much as like four Snipers or something. Sniper is stupidly good value for the cost, so much so that he doesn't really have a clean replacement. 91 exp is seriously amazing. He's basically one of the best characters.
I'm not sure James Sullivan is even in the game. I have an edited version of DFN's spreadsheet with only the mercs in the current version, but it's on my other computer (the one with the correct pw for my forum account) and I am not near that computer.
Reaper is iirc crap, terrible cost to value. INT is a horrible stat because it makes everyone who has it overpriced. INT is not worth EXP or even close.
Take a typical 2-month game, how much EXP does your 100 INT main character have? 50-ish maybe, possibly more if you did boot camp or evo of weapons or just focus on feeding your MC the kills. On the other hand, if you recruit old benicia (before my changes), what is her shooting before she gets replaced (which generally takes about 20-30 days at most)? probably 60+ and she starts at 10 or below with bad INT (where MC with 100 INT also starts with 30 EXP). Bad shooting can be pushed to low 80s with not a lot of work, even with bad int, but bad exp can't be fixed -- or put another way, the characters with over 80 EXP are so worthwhile that it takes a truly awful character (Poka) to not be recommended if your exp is high.
Cheap people to recruit early: Toker -- cheapest option Slick -- best HWP among cheap characters, useful if you can find a 203 or something Ein Ein Zwei -- probably not worth being more expensive than Toker, high STR though Stingray -- best overall value, but very very poor REA Badabing -- not bad and better STR Poncho -- cheapest good scout, 81 EYE 90 HRN 75 CAM 75 STH Warlock -- probably not as good as Badabing or EEZ, same general idea (decent stats + good STR) Lobo -- removes all of Stingray's weaknesses, but costs more
worth getting if you bank loan to get early Sonar -- very good scout, high INT, expensive but cheaper than top tier options; with time to develop can be worth it due to good scouting stats Earp -- 29 SHT really hurts him but 88 EXP 83 GFT; kind of insane if you level SHT enough Ali -- so freaking expensive even a bank loan isn't enough, but if you can somehow pay for him and level his awful SHT (73 INT), he costs less than gunnar I guess
worth messing around with if you don't like free characters and want to run all mercs Tito -- actually so good he singlehandedly eliminates a huge number of characters from being viable, thanks jackass Cobra -- probably the best scout that isn't Mike; Sure is better but his combat stats are awful Linchpin -- also a decent scout/sniper hybrid, very very good (though Silver dislikes him) Coyote -- if you got Slick (for a HWP guy) you probably want to eventually replace him with Coyote if you didn't replace him with robyu; robyu is better though Dios -- Linchpin is better; 95 SNP isn't as good as 79 SNP 70 EXP plus good steath and camo, Silver is wrong
you should really jump from free/cheap to these people (robyu is in this tier, near the top) Masha -- kind of like Tito, she obsoletes a huge number of people; well over half the remaining mercs are worse than masha, even without considering her cost Pops -- 92 EXP 68 SHT 50 GFT, basically Masha 1.5, in case you needed another one (but without cute russian lady voice) Sniper -- god of sniping Lex -- if you really didn't want robyu, lex does his job... better wtf. if you have robyu lex is less cost-efficient than some others (due to high HWP) but still amazing Gunnar -- he's the real best merc in the game. coincidentally, my nephew is named gunnar. he is nowhere near as badass
if you have too much money Mike -- actually the best at everything but way too expensive, if you can pay for mike, just restart the game because you've won seriously

tl; dr: Sonar is the only character with INT worth getting, and only if you get her early via bank loan
